GM executive James E. Taylor, 52, with GM since 1980 and Cadillac's general manager from 2004 through most of 2008, deserves much credit for Cadillac's recent successes and last fall was given the newly created position of CEO. For Hummer.
GM's release noted, "This move marks a progression in the ongoing strategic review process and establishes the lead management structure for Hummer going forward." Taylor will report to ex-Nissan guy Mark McNabb, North America vice president, Cadillac/Premium Channel, at least until GM finds a buyer for Hummer.
Sweetening the pot with a proven guy like Taylor might help that sale along somewhere. Also on the block are AC Delco and some European GM operations, pieces that would also fit well in Taylor's portfolio.
