Testing Unveils 2010 Chevrolet Equinox Gets 32 MPG On Highway

After numerous in-house tests of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, GM engineers have mustered a 32 mpg highway fuel mileage ahead of official EPA evaluation. Once federally approved, the model will be the ninth vehicle in Chevrolet's lineup to have a highway rating above 30 mpg.

Testing was undertaken using a front-wheel drive Equinox powered by a direct-injected 2.4-liter Ecotec inline-four. GM techies got 22 mpg city, 32 mph highway on this mule. Their benchmarks included the Honda CR-V (20/27) and Toyota RAV-4 (22/28).

When it hits dealerships this June, the 2010 Equinox will start off at $23,185, including destination and handling.
