Members of Chrysler's United Auto Workers union will not be able to use a strike as a barganing tool until September 2015 at the earliest per a newly inked contract, Bloomberg reports.

No Uaw Strikes Against Fiat Chrysler Until 2015

An original contract expiration deadline of September 14, 2011 was extended four years in exchange for a UAW held 55% stake in the Fiat-Chrysler partnership. The stake also nullifies half of the $10.6 billion Chrysler owes to one of the union's retiree health-care funds.

If any further changes are deemed necessary before the 2015 no-strike expiration date, they must be handled through binding arbitration. According to one source, the process is less leveraging than an all-out strike.

The revised UAW contract also reduces healthcare benefits, consolidates job classifications, and sets up stricter attendance policies, all in the name of future American labor stability.
