Kia Soul'ster Pickup Could See Production and Go On Sale by 2010

June 1, 2009
By Benson Kong

Kia's funky Soul'ster pickup concept, which made its appearance at the Detroit auto show back in January, was originally supposed to hype up the 2010 Kia Soul compact car, which went on sale later in March. The Soul'ster illustrated a possible future adaptation of the Soul and is targeted at hip, young buyers looking for sportiness and versatility in an economical package. At the time of the Detroit show, Kia was not intending on putting the Soul'ster concept into production.

However, nothing in the auto industry is firmly set, and according to the sources at The Car Connection, the Soul'ster has received enough positive buzz for Kia's management to warrant a serious look at production. Should the Soul'ster go into production, the economical pickup truck could go on sale in the U.S. by the first half of 2010. Officially, there is no confirmation from Kia on the Soul'ster's production, yet.

Though the Kia Soul hasn't quite hit showroom floors in the U.S. yet, Kia has already brought out a new concept, dubbed the Soul'ster, to illustrate possible future adaptations of the Soul.
