By Benson Kong

The 2009 Baja 500 will have a variety of off-road vehicles taking on the unforgiving Baja terrain in a 433-mile race that will start on June 6. The Baja 500 will take place about 65 miles south of the U.S./Mexico border at San Diego, California, where over 275 participants in cars, trucks, motorcycles, and ATVs will make up a total of 28 Pro and 6 Sportsman classes. The Baja 500 will begin at 6 a.m. June 6 for all motorcycles and ATVs, while cars and trucks will start their races at approximately 10 a.m. All vehicles have a 20-hour time limit to complete the course.

For the first time ever, Baja fans can follow the progress of Team General Tire through General Tire's Twitter. Up-to-the-minute progress reports will be available throughout the race starting on June 6.
