Pontiac and Hummer may have been deemed "bad assets" by General Motors, but there are plenty of people out there who have been influenced by either brand. According to a survey by CarGurus, 44 percent of respondents to the question, "Which of the brands GM plans to get rid of would you most like to see survive," responded "Pontiac." Another 27 percent answered "Hummer," while Saab garnered 20 percent and Saturn came in last at 9 percent.

It comes with little surprise that Pontiac was the most popular choice of the four brands. The former performance division was once a major player in the musclecar scene, but hasn't held the same appeal in years. Hummer, on the other hand, was a big surprise to CarGurus CEO Langley Steinert as the second overall choice.

According to Steinert, "The Saturn Vue is a top-50 best-selling car in the United States, while Hummer's best-selling model -- the H3 -- ranks 153rd. I would have expected Saturn to be the other brand consumers wanted to see survive GM's reorganization."

The CarGurus survey saw a total of 1693 votes.
