The buzz surrounding the sale of Hummer to Chinese company Sichuan Tengzhong lately has been focused on the reported impedance by the Chinese government, citing environmental and business concerns. News of the government blockage came by way of the state-owned China National Radio; however, Hummer and Tengzhong have said the Chinese government has not road-blocked the deal. According to Hummer spokesman Nick Richards, the report from China National Radio was "not an official statement from the Chinese government" and was mere speculation on the condition of the sale.

Currently, GM, Hummer, and Tengzhong continue to work on their proposal to finalize the deal.
