Since much development had been done before the Chrysler/Benz divorce, the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee will likely share a platform with the next Mercedes-Benz ML-Class. Independent rear suspension is already on the ML, which makes for better seating options and space, and that could mean two or even three rows for the G.C. It's also possible this platform could be the basis for a Durango, if execs don't feel it would dilute the Dodge or Jeep brands too much. Expect a choice of Phoenix V-6 gas engines, 4.7- and 5.7-liter V-8s, a two-mode Hemi like that in the Durango, and possibly a 3.0- to 3.5-liter turbodiesel.
