The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just announced the latest two models to join its list of 'Top Safety Pick' models, the 2010 Mazda3 and Dodge Journey. Each earned a rating of 'good' on front, side, and rear crash test procedures, as well as included a standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC) program that earned them the top safety award granted by the IIHS.
The 2010 Mazda3 includes a variety of standard safety features, including active head restraints, frontal and side airbags, active head restraints, and roof mounted side air curtains. It should be noted that Mazda's Dynamic Stability Control is available optionally at the base trim level, but comes standard on higher-optioned versions.
The 2010 Dodge Journey comes standard with safety features beyond ESC, such as traction control, driver and front-passenger active head restraints, pre-tensioning seatbelt retractors, front seat-mounted side airbags, and advanced multi-stage front airbags.
