The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox is not only monumentally better looking than its previous generation, but it has scored better in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's crash tests as well. The newest Equinox scored ratings of Good in IIHS front, side, and rear crash tests, improving over the Marginal rating received in the side-impact test for the 2005-09 Equinox without optional side airbags. With Good ratings across the board and standard stability control, the Equinox was an uncontested selection for the Top Safety Pick award.
As crash test results tend to be shared within the family, the 2010 Cadillac SRX and 2010 GMC Terrain also earned Top Safety Picks.
