Honda has
refined and refreshed its CR-V crossover for 2010, but the U.K. model has added a new 2.2-liter diesel engine as well. Sitting beneath its freshly sculpted hood is an i-DTEC, diesel four-cylinder with 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The diesel employs the latest in EGR and fuel injector technology and, coupled with a manual transmission, emits just 0.61 pounds of CO2 emissions per mile driven (0.69 pounds/mile with an automatic transmission).
In addition to the new diesel, the U.K. CR-V can also be paired with Honda’s familiar 2.0-liter inline-four. Unchanged from the previous generation, the gasser is rated to 148 horsepower and 142 pound-feet of torque. The lone powertrain available in the U.S. CR-V is the 2.4-liter i-VTEC inline-four with 180 horsepower and 161 pound-feet of torque.
The most basic 2.0-liter CR-V starts around $33,350 for the SE trim, and runs to $47,100 for the topline EX model with the Advanced Safety Pack and automatic transmission. Diesel lovers will need to pay $36,600 for a base diesel model, with the price tag touching just over $50,000 for the top-shelf EX trim.
All prices are converted from official U.K. figures and include a 15-percent value added tax (VAT).
