The 42nd annual Baja 1000 came to a successful close this past weekend, and down in the Baja, the father-and-son team of Scott and Andy McMillin took their Chevrolet Silverado trophy truck to a first-place finish among all four-wheelers. The 22-year-old Andy helped complete the 673-mile loop in 14 hours, 19 minutes, and 50 seconds at an average speed of 47 mph. This latest win was Andy’s second overall four-wheel victory, and father Scott’s first. Scott also has three class titles.

Finishing directly behind the McMillins was the veteran duo of Roger Norman and Larry “Mr. Baja” Roeseler. Behind the wheel of their Ford F-150 trophy truck, Norman and Roeseler were at the finish line in 14 hours, 52 minutes, and 27 seconds. The pair has a combined total of 14 overall four-wheel titles (Norman – 1, Roeseler – 13). Coming in third was the team of Rick D. Johnson and Brian Sallee, also in a F-150 trophy truck (15 hours, 2 minutes, 36 seconds).

In addition to the trophy truck winners, big news also comes from the stock classes. Rod Hall not only competed his record-breaking, 42nd-straight Baja 1000, but also co-drove his Hummer H3 to first place in the Stock Mini class. Although the H3 came down with steering issues mid-race, the Hummer was fixed and completed the race in 28 hours, 53 minutes, and 30 seconds. This year’s win is Rod's 21st class win.

“With the experience our team has in Baja, we know it isn’t over until you cross the finish line,” said Hall. “We are fortunate to have an enduring, winning partnership with Hummer and BFGoodrich. The purpose-built H3 is a tough truck and we didn’t experience one flat tire on either vehicle.”

Hot on the H3’s heels was Toyota’s brand-new 2010 Runner. The 4Runner took 29 hours, 2 minutes, and 9 seconds to cross the finish line, driven by Robert Ditner, Joe Nolan, Kez Ziesemer, and Ivan “Ironman” Stewart.

Rod Hall Racing’s Chad Hall, piloting a Hummer H3 Alpha, took first in the Stock Full class. With this latest victory, Rod Hall Racing has claimed the Stock Full class every year since 2001. Chad now has eight Baja 1000 class wins.
