The Infiniti FX has been awarded a five-star safety rating under the European New Car Assessment Program’s latest testing regimen, making it the first luxury CUV to achieve the highest rating under the new standards. Similar to the IIHS, the Euro NCAP recently revamped its assessment program, making it more stringent and rigorous than ever.
According to the safety assessment, the Infiniti FX scored 99 percent in the new “safety assist” portion of the test. Extra points were awarded for the FX lineup’s standard stability-control system, seatbelt reminders for all seats, and its driver-set speed limiter.
The ever-important crash tests witnessed the FX earn an 86-percent safety rating for adult occupants and a 77-percent rating for children. In addition to standard front, side, and head airbags, the latest FX also features a new body that is 1.6-times more resistant to twisting and 3.4-times more resistant to bending than the previous generation.
Other safety equipment and features include standard seatbelt pretensioners, a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, an automatic driving position system, intelligent AWD, and adaptive front lighting. The topline FX50S packs intelligent cruise control and brake assist, an Around View Monitor, Rear Active Steer, and tire-pressure monitoring.
