It has been 60 years since the first Volkswagen Transporter prototype was delivered to the press, and in celebration of the anniversary, the German automaker will have two special vans on hand at the AutoMuseum in Wolfsburg, Germany. The displays are two first-generation (T1) Transporter prototypes: a Dove Blue panel van filled with Transporter memorabilia and a converted van with a built-in bar, dubbed Beck’s Bus. The historic vans will be on display through December.

From the 1950s until today, Volkswagen vans have held a significant place in automotive history worldwide. The T1 and T2 generations spanned nearly three decades, with production years of 1950-1967 and 1967-1979, respectively. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the T3’s launch. The third-generation van was built from 1979 to 1992.
