2010 Ford Ranger Sport Scenic View
The Ford Ranger first entered the U.S. automotive market as a 1983 model, and nearly three decades later, production figures have surpassed the seven million mark. The Ranger is currently built at the Twin Cities Assembly Plant in St. Paul, Minnesota, but the plant will cease operations in 2011. The Ranger’s long run will end with the plant, and despite the impending availability of the global T6 Ranger, Ford has not named a successor for the U.S.

In its heyday, the Ranger was undoubtedly the compact truck standard during the final decade of the 20th century. Last month, 4143 Rangers were sold, a 47-percent increase compared to January 2009.

The current-gen Ford Ranger is set to end production next year, and by default the F-150 will replace it as the Blue Oval’s smallest vehicle with an open bed.
