Production-Ready Land Rover LRX Scheduled to Debut at 2010 Paris Motor Show

Want a first look at the production-ready Land Rover LRX? Start planning a trip to France -- the new model will make its official debut at the 2010 Paris motor show this September.

Earlier this year, Land Rover confirmed it would indeed build the LRX -- first shown as a concept in 2008 -- as a production vehicle. Although details are still slim, we've heard the company plans on offering the model as a Range Rover, allowing it to fit in just beneath the Land Rover Sport.

Rumors suggest Land Rover may use the LRX to launch its new hybrid powertrain, which also appeared in the LRX concept. The system could pair a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 with an electric motor, and reports suggest a plug-in version -- which could offer up to 20 miles range from electricity alone -- has also been discussed. Dealers privy to the product information told Automotive News the LRX will be "the most efficient vehicle" ever offered by the brand.

We'll learn more about the LRX and its powertrain options come September 30, when the press days of the Paris motor show begin. Stay with Automobile for all the latest from the Paris show.
