As if the auto industry needed another recall headline, Nissan has announced two new recalls that affect 540,000 trucks, SUVs, and minivans.

The first recall involves potentially defective brake-pedal pins on some 2008-2009 Quests and 2008-2010 Armadas and Titans. The faulty pins can lead to loose brake pedals, which in turn reduce braking force. There have been no reports of injuries or crashes related to this issue.

The second recall centers on fuel gauges that display a quarter of a tank reading when it should actually be nearly empty. This issue affects 2005-2009 Armadas and Titans and certain 2006-2008 Frontiers, Pathfinders, and Xterras. There have also been no injury or crash reports related to the problem.

These recalls are not limited to the U.S., as 79,000 of the recalled vehicles were sold in Canada, Mexico, Japan, and other international markets. Applicable Infiniti QX56s, the sister model to the Armada, are also affected.

Impacted Nissan owners should call 800-647-7261 or visit Nissan’s vehicle recall Web site.
