Navistar recently revealed its Class 8 International ProStar+ (Plus) for 2010 at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Kentucky. The next-generation ProStar+ builds on the current ProStar's success with a fully polished interior and new MaxxForce engines.
To appease its loyal customers, the ProStar+ was fitted with a reengineered overhead console, increased interior storage capacity, and a nine-percent reduction in cabin noise levels. The clutch also gets a 20-pound force reduction in pedal feel for less strenuous shifting, in addition to an ergonomic steering wheel with built-in controls.
Powering the ProStar+ is the MaxxForce 11 or MaxxForce 13. Both diesel engines comply with 2010 diesel emissions regulations without a urea-injection system. Fuel economy is helped with a variety of refinements including a 700-pound weight reduction, clutched air-compressor, variable-speed fan, low-viscosity engine oil, fuel-efficient rear-axle lubricant, and optional full-length chassis skirts for sleeper cabs. Day cab models have a cab roof air fairing option.
