After recalling nearly its entire truck and SUV lineup earlier this month, Nissan has a fresh notice for the 2010 model year Frontier, Pathfinder, and Xterra. Also, GM will be alerting Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana customers of a potential engine fire issue.
Nissan’s newest recall centers on 4038 Frontiers, Pathfinders, and Xterras built from February 22 to March 13 and covers two fastener issues. The first focuses on the front passenger airbag module, which may cause the airbag’s deployment trajectory to be altered. The second fastener issue originates from the steering column positioning bracket, which could come loose and cause a crash.
GM’s recall involves about 5000 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana 2500 and 3500 full-size vans, also from the 2010 model year. A faulty alternator could potentially spark an engine fire issue and, although most of the vans are in rental and other commercial fleets, owners are urged to disconnect the van’s battery cables, negative terminal first.
Affected vans include Expresses with ending VIN numbers from A1129327 to A1142523 and Savanas with numbers from A1128784 to A1901915.
