GM's CNG Option for Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana Priced at $15,910

Do you want compressed natural gas power for your fleet of Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans directly from the manufacturer? The factory option has been priced and it starts with an MSRP of $15,910.

General Motors' CNG fuel system is matched to a specially prepared 6.0-liter V-8 engine with beefier exhaust valves and intake and exhaust valve seats. The hardened components ensure compatibility with the gaseous fuel without inducing excessive wear and the full-size vans remain compliant with emissions regulations while running on the alternative fuel. The CNG-powered vans will be covered by GM's three-year, 36,000-mile new-vehicle limited warranty and five-year, 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.

The bulk of the $15,910 cost is built into the CNG system, which carries a price tag of $14,590. The CNG-prepped Vortec V-8 costs $1295 while the heavy-duty trailering equipment comes in at $265. The CNG package rids the vans of the spare wheel and tire which credits buyers $240, bringing the total to $15,910.
