Subaru has announced that the 2011 Forester will be priced at $21,220 with a five-speed manual transmission and $1200 more for a four-speed automatic.

The prices represent a $230 increase from 2010 models, including the $725 destination charge. For 2011, the Forester has a new Boxer engine -- only the third generation since 1966.

There's also a new grille design and a different 17-inch alloy wheel design for the 2.5X Premium pictured on the red SUV above.

Non-turbocharged models still make 170 horsepower, but now with 174 lb-ft of torque at 4100 rpm versus the 2010 model's 170 lb-ft at 4400 rpm. Fuel economy has improved. 2011 Foresters without the turbo are rated 21/27 mpg city/highway. 2010 Foresters with a manual are rated 20/27 mpg and 20/26 mpg for the automatic.

Subaru's Forester 2.5X Premium sees a $430 price bump, to $23,920 for the manual and $1000 more for the automatic. For the extra money, the Premium model includes a 10-way power driver's seat, a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, a panoramic moonroof, roof rails, a USB port, Bluetooth, and iPod connectivity.

The All Weather Package now includes a TomTom navigation system with a 4.3-inch LCD touchscreen. An integrated navigation system is still offered for $1800, on the Limited model. The system has a seven-inch LCD screen, auxiliary input jack and a backup camera.

New for 2011, the Touring model introduces to the Forester lineup HID headlights and side mirrors with integrated turn signals. Roof rails become silver and the rear seatbacks fold at the touch of a buttom. The Touring is $28,720 with an automatic transmission.

All turbo models receive aluminum-alloy gas and brake pedal covers and a 10-way power driver's seat. An integrated navigation system is available for $1600.
