BFGoodrich recently honored Yacolt Burn State Forest near Vancouver, Washington as one of its 2010 Outstanding Trails. In doing so, the tire maker gave $4000 to the non-profit Piston’s Wild Motorsports Club for use in establishing and design off-road trails in the region.

Officials say they selected the area for its “scenic beauty and off-road potential”. If all goes as planned, they hope to have a new set of trails in place by mid-summer of 2011 that also includes a campground and trailhead.

Trails vary in length, difficulty, and elevations. Planners want to carve 30-plus miles for four-wheel drive vehicles and another 40-plus miles strictly for ATVs. Elevations range from 600 feet to 3500 feet above sea level.

Now five-years running, the BFGoodrich Tires Outstanding Trails program has so far recognized 19 trails around the country, with an additional two in Canada.
