Volkswagen has announced pricing and information on the three trim levels of the Amarok midsize truck. Don't get too excited, though, as these prices are still just for the UK market, not the U.S.
Two versions of Volkswagen's 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine will be offered on the Startline, Trendline, and Highline trims. Prices start at about $27,400 U.S., and that doesn't include the VAT.
All Amaroks have some form of 4Motion four-wheel drive. The base Startline trim offers electric front and rear windows, semi-automatic AC, a single-CD sound system, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control, off-road ABS, and other safety systems are also part of the package.
Upgrade to the Trendline trim and you'll get two-zone AC, a better sound system as well as a leather-trimmed steering wheel, handbrake, and gear knob. Color-coded mirrors and front bumper help show that you aren't driving a base Amarok, and the same goes for the bigger 17-inch alloy wheels. Go for the Highline trim and you're getting a number of aesthetic upgrades, leather seats, and privacy glass. Other options include a navigation system, extra protection for the underbody parts and bed, plus 19-inch wheels.
