Showing that technology can be for more than just entertainment and mobile connectivity, Ford is introducing its Truck App feature to provide an added layer of safety and security to truck owners that tow. The system gives the driver a series of safety checklists through the 4x2-inch LCD display in the middle of the gauge cluster. Among the prompts are:

• Ball coupler connected and locked?
• Tongue jack raised?
• Mirrors adjusted?
• Electrical wiring connected?
• Lights functioning correctly (running lights, left/right turn and brake lights)?
• Trailer Brake Controller gain setting adjusted?
• Wheel chocks removed?
• Safety chains connected?

In addition, the system has memory for up to 10 different trailers, and can log accumulated mileage on each, and trailer brake gain with the integrated controller.

On 4x4 models, for off-road enthusiasts, the system also displays information such as pitch-and-roll, which shows the angle of surface incline, the degree of tilt and steering angle, and the status of hill descent control on the Raptor model.

The F-150 productivity screen is standard on all FX2/FX4, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum models. It is also available on XLT as part of the XLT Convenience Package.
