According to a report by German rag Auto Motor und Sport, Audi is apparently debating creating a hot version of its small Q3 crossover to be released in 2012.
The Audi Q3 RS, if it exists, will likely feature a 300-hp version of Audi’s turbocharged 2.5-liter I-5. For those keeping track, that’s the same engine that’s found under the hood in the RS3, Quattro and Audi TT RS; so that engine squeezing into the Q3’s engine bay (which itself is A3 based,) is not all that far-fetched. If Audi does go ahead with the Q3 RS, besides the new engine, expect the Q5 to probably also get a more aggressive body kit and firmer suspension tuning.
While Audi has yet to confirm that the Q3 will make its way to North America, or confirm the existence of the Q3 RS, if it does exist it’ll likely make its debut before the end of the year. Auto Motor und Sport also expects it to be available for sale by the fall of 2012, just in time for the end of the world.
