Infiniti's mid-sized FX luxury crossover is set to receive revised exterior touches and a limited edition model for the 2012 model year. Some FX variants will also be priced higher.
Infiniti states that the 2012 FX will get newly-styped, 20-inch rims and an undated instrument cluster. But the most dramatic change takes place up front where designers drew inspiration from the Infiniti Essence Concept that was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. Much like the front view of the stunning concept, a large Infiniti emblem sits in the center of the over-sized grill that sports sharp, angular kinks on its side.
Additionally, a Limited Edition FX35 (all-wheel drive version only) will sport an exclusive Iridium Blue paint color, 21-inch graphite rims, darkened headlights, a navigation system, Infiniti's Around View Monitor and various graphite and aluminum trim interior finishes. Priced at $52,445, only 550 copies of Limited Edition FX35 will make it to the States.
Pricing remains the same for the AWD FX35 ($45,795 including the $895 destination fee), but goes up slightly for the base FX35 and the range-topping FX50. The base, rear-drive FX35 is now priced at $44,345 including destination, or $850 higher than the $43,495 price of the 2011 model. Infiniti increased the base price for the 2012 FX50 by just $100, which is now $60,245 including destination.
The powertrain remains unchanged which means the FX35 still gets the 3.5-liter, 303-hp, V-6 engine, while the FX50 is stuffed with the 5.0-liter, V-8 rated at 390 hp.
