Honda says that if drivers of vehicles with automatic transmissions become stuck in mud or snow, repeatedly moving the transmission between reverse, neutral, and drive can wear the transmission's secondary-shaft bearing. If the bearing is damaged, the vehicle could stall and the driver might not be able to put the transmission in park.

The Fix: Honda will reprogram the transmission's computer to "ease the transition" when the transmission is shifted between reverse, neutral, and drive. The company has received no reports of injuries resulting from the problem. The recall will begin August 31.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 1.5 million 2005-2010 Honda Accord four-cylinder, 2007-2010 Honda CR-V, and 2005-2008 Honda Element vehicles
