Students at Ohio Technical College are combing the best of both the land and sea to create a nifty nautical themed 2010 Suzuki Grand Vitara that blends the brand's automotive and marine divisions. The car-and-boat hybrid will debut at the 2011 SEMA show in Las Vegas in early November.

The most dramatic change the Grand Vitara will see is getting its top chopped off, which will allow room for two Suzuki boat motors to be placed on the back of the SUV. An abundance of aftermarket accessories will also come into play, all provided by Stylin' Trucks and ARB. Goodies include oversize tires and wheels, a suspension lift, an ocean liner horn, a surfboard rear view mirror, chrome exhaust tips, a neon license plate frame, and a DVD entertainment system among several other add-ons.

"This project will provide OTC students in our Restoration and our Custom Paint and Graphics Programs with another unique learning opportunity in vehicle modification," said Tom King, OTC director of enrollment management.

After its SEMA debut, the maritime Vitara will make its round at several events and major auto shows in Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, and New York.

Although it may look the part, there is no word yet on whether the seafaring Grand Vitara will be capable of floating on the high seas.
