The Toyota FJ Cruiser Trail Teams edition returns for 2012, replacing last year's "Army Green" color with a "Radiant Red" paint scheme. The 2012 model's aggressive look is further highlighted by roof-mounted off-road driving lights, along with black-accented exterior pieces, which include black bumpers, front grille, and door handles. Toyota describes the look as "menacing," but the Trail Teams edition also has the equipment to back up its hardcore appearance.
The FJ Cruiser's standard 4.0-liter V-6 serves in the Trail Teams edition as well, still producing 260 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. The special edition models receive the FJ's optional Off-Road Package, which includes trail-tuned shocks from Bilstein, a rear differential lock, and Toyota's Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) system. Trail Teams edition models also get skid plates, rock rails, and TRD alloy wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires.
Inside, the door trim, steering wheel, and seat fabric all receive red accents to match the exterior. The rear-view mirror has an integrated monitor that displays the feed from the backup camera, while water-resistant seats paired with a rubberized floor are intended to make the Trail Teams edition easier to clean.
