Dodge's "Search Engine" treasure hunt has ended. The contest, which included three 2012 Dodge Journey prizes, started on the west coast earlier this month and ended this week when Melissa Sweeney of Virginia found the third and final Journey in Maine.
The final 2012 Dodge Journey has been found, wrapping up the automaker’s nationwide “Search Engine” scavenger hunt that began on the west coast earlier this month. Virginia resident Melissa Sweeney needed two days and traveled over 500 miles to find the hidden Journey.
And it looks like this particular Journey is headed to a good home, one which already houses another Mopar sibling. “My husband just bought his dream car. He got a big Dodge Ram,” Sweeney said. “So I was looking for something. Then we saw the commercial and I said, ‘Oh ya, there. I’ll win my car.’” And that she did.
While the first two Journeys were found relatively quickly, Dodge made the last hunt more difficult by combining both online and real world clues. The search began in Albany, New York and crossed through Vermont and New Hampshire with Maine as the finish line. Pit stops and real world clues included: Lake George, NY; Concord and Portsmouth, NH; and a sign store, antique store, and real estate office in Maine. The Journey was hidden inside a barn located off a dirt road.
The first Journey was hidden in Hope Valley, California and was found in about 16 hours by a father/son duo from Gardnerville, Nevada. The second Dodge Journey was located Oklahoma and was discovered in less than six hours by a family in Oklahoma.
