Using social media to advertise or unveil vehicles is nothing new. Ford, however, can now claim to be the first carmaker to use a social media game to unveil a new product. In this case it's the 2013 Ford Escape.
Ford has teamed up with Zynga to use its popular Words With Friends mobile and online social game to debut the new Escape. Zynga and Ford created a bigger version of the game, which starts today. Both gamers and Ford fans will be able to compete with Actress Jenny McCarthy, who was chosen to host the event.
"We're always looking for fun ways to celebrate and give back to our players," said Paul Bettner, general manager for Zynga With Friends, the studio that created Words With Friends. "Creating a huge, live game, and pitting our players against Jenny on a single day is going to be a lot of fun, and we're excited Ford has helped put our game up in lights."
The game will take place from 8 to 9 p.m. PST. Players can watch, participate, and submit words through the live chat at www.Facebook.com/fordescape and www.livestream.com/ford.
