December is proving to be a busy month for recalls, as we recently reported the Nissan Rogue was recalled over power steering concerns. Now, it's the Subaru Outback that needs to go in for some adjustments. This latest recall affects 2012 model-year Subaru Outbacks, along with Legacy and Impreza models, and has to do with the brake master cylinder.
Subaru Impreza/Outback/Legacy Brake Master Cylinder Recall
The Problem: Certain Model-year 2012 Subaru Impreza, Legacy, and Outback models may be equipped with brake master cylinder units, which, if faulty, can cause increased brake pedal travel along with requiring more force to slow or stop the vehicle.
The Fix: Subaru will begin carrying out the recall by notifying owners, expected to happen this month. Dealers will then inspect the brake master cylinder, and replace the part if necessary, free of charge.
Number of Vehicles Affected: In total, the recall affects roughly 31,959 vehicles. Impreza sedans and wagons manufactured from April 21, 2011, through November 15, 2011, along with Legacy and Outback models produced from October 17, 2011, through November 23, 2011, may be affected. Model-year 2012 Impreza WRX and STI models are not included in the recall.
