Land Rover used the Geneva International Salon d'Auto to test the waters on an Evoque Convertible concept and drove a Discovery into the water to celebrate production of 1 million Discovery/LR3/LR4 SUVs.
The Evoque Convertible has a fully retracting roof, drop-down tailgate, and pop-up rollbars for rollover protection. Production plans will be based on public reaction.
The Discovery has embarked on an expedition from Birmingham to Beijing, with Land Rover hoping to raise 1 million pounds sterling for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to support long-term water sanitation. As part of the Switzerland party, Land Rover drove a float-equipped "amphibious" Discovery Series 1 into Lake Geneva.
