The European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) recently toughened up the way it evaluates vehicles in a crash test, but that didn't pose a problem for the new Ford Ranger. The Ford pickup set the benchmark for the tougher safety rating system by achieving five stars.
This makes the Ford Ranger Europe's safest pickup thus far, and although it's currently the only vehicle in its class to achieve the highest rating, it isn't the only Ford to pass the crash test with flying colors.
Pedestrian-focused safety features equipped on the Ford Ranger include an energy-absorbing front bumper and a unique structure under the hood, which overall helps minimize the impact of pedestrian head injuries.
"Safety is a core value for Ford Motor Company and we're delighted that the Ranger and Focus have met and exceeded the highest standards demanded by Euro NCAP," said Stuart Southgate, Ford automotive safety office director in a press release.
