As if you needed any more evidence of China's importance in the global automotive scene, Ford has just announced that three new SUVs will be introduced at the Beijing auto show (officially named the Auto China show) later this month.

Ford calls the vehicles "all-new" but it's not completely clear whether than means "all-new" globally, or new to the Chinese market. If it's the latter, there's a good chance the lineup will be the EcoSport, the new Kuga (known stateside as the Escape), and possibly the new Explorer.

In addition to the debut of the new SUV models, Ford is also announcing the $500 million expansion of its Chongqing assembly plant to build the new Focus for the Chinese market. The Focus will debut Mandarin language recognition for the Sync system.
