Price increases on new model-year vehicles are nothing new. Typically, they're a few hundred dollars, and often include previously-optional equipment that's made standard. For the 2013 Toyota Venza , the price increases range from a modest $270 on LE models to a substantial $1585 on the higher-trim XLE models. The top-of-the-line Limited model sees a $955 increase for 2013.

Curious as to why the XLE in particular saw such a large year-to-year increase, we contacted Toyota for clarification. Turns out that four-figure sum gets you quite a bit more standard equipment than on the 2012 Venza. The 2013 Venza XLE comes standard with heated outside rearview mirrors with integrated turn signals, puddle lamps, power folding, tilt-down and memory settings. The driver's seat also gets memory settings as well. In addition, the 2013 XLE gets standard display audio with navigation and Toyota's Entune system standard, including SiriusXM satellite ratio, HD Radio, auxiliary audio and iPod connectivity, and Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio streaming.

The biggest change across-the-board for 2013 models is the availability of Toyota's Entune multimedia interface system and navigation as optional features on all trim levels. The choice of interior colors in Ivory, Light Gray and Black in cloth upholstery on the LE and leather on XLE and Limited trims is the other big change for the 2013 model year.

Standard on all 2013 Venza models is dual-zone automatic climate control, eight-way power adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar, a 3.5-inch multi-information display, and a tilt/telescopic adjustable steering wheel with audio controls.
