Since its introduction for the 2010 model year, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor has been a favorite of off-road enthusiasts. To date, each model year has brought incremental improvements that continue to increase its functionality and off-road ability and this trend isn't ending. For the 2013 edition of the F-150 SVT Raprotr, Ford is adding optional HID headlights and an industry-first, patent-pending beadlock-capable factory wheel, which will allow the use of low tire pressures that are optimal for off-roading situations without running the risk of the tire dismounting or slipping on the wheel. This functionality is enabled by an optional beadlock ring kit from Ford Racing. The use of the beadlock function does require the dismounting and re-mounting of the tires, however.

Like the rest of the 2013 F-150 Lineup, the Raptor gets an upgrade to its cabin controls and interface via an enhanced Sync system that allows for voice control of vehicle functions. Ford is also adding a truck-specific version of its MyFord Touch interface that features an 8-inch center console touch screen and redundant button and knob controls to facilitate use while wearing work gloves as an option.

The only other change for the 2013 model year is the addition of the Terrain paint color, which Ford says is inspired by desert camouflage. It joins the existing color lineup of Race Red, Blue Flame Metallic, Tuxedo Black Metallic, Ingot Silver Metallic, and Oxford White.

The popular grille-mounted washer-equipped camera option carries over from 2012 while the 6.2-liter, 411-hp V-8 engine remains the Raptor's sole engine.

Ford is not letting its 2012 Truck of the Year award get to its head. Although it gave the F-150 line an all-new power train lineup from top to bottom in 2011, it's taking the opportunity for the 2013 model year of making some noteworthy updates to the truck's cabin tech features.
