In a move reminiscent of Ford dropping its F-100 idea, GM has dropped the notion of making a lighter weight, more economical full-size pickup because it didn't pay off in fuel economy or the business case, because of higher costs. GM's Mark Reuss told Rick Kranz of Automotive News at the Detroit auto show that it "made more sense to develop a midsize pickup. That's where the new Colorado comes in, as Reuss put it, at "90 percent of the size and 120 percent of the efficiency because of the powertrains."
