Mainland China's tradition for freely copying western designs to suit their own purposes for locally-sold products continues with the Shaanxi Victory S102 midsize pickup. If the truck looks anything like these renderings and sketches, it will be a virtual dead-ringer for the Cadillac Escalade EXT, at least from the front.

However, the 198-inch-long Victory S102 is condierably shorter than the Escalade EXT, which measures 222 inches bumper-to-bumper. The S102 also comes up a bit short in the power department. Unlike the Escalade, which packs a substantial 6.2-liter V-8 producing 403 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque, the S102 is offered with a 100-hp I-4 mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The stylists seem to have decided that they didn't want to be too blatant in their copying -- or simply gave up on their mini-Escalade escapade -- because the rear of the S102 appears to be that of a standard-issue midsize truck. However, a case could be made for the tubular steel roll bar attempting to mimic the EXT's "flying buttress" D-pillar supports.
