Acting quickly to avoid a potentially larger issue, Mercedes-Benz is issuing a recall on 2012 and 2013 model-year ML350, ML550, and ML63 AMG SUV models equipped with accessory all-season floormats. The recall applies only to vehicles equipped with the all-season floormats, and not to models with the conventional carpeted floormats.
The Problem: Models equipped with all-season floormats may not fully conform to the driver-side footwell, preventing the throttle from fully retracting when released, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners and replace the affected floormats when replacements become available. In the meantime, Mercedes recommends owners remove the all-season floormats from their vehicles. The recall campaign is expected to begin in September.
