2013 Dodge Durango Recalled for Side Airbag Occupant Restraint Control Module

Certain 2013 Dodge Durango three-row SUVs have been recalled because they may have left the factory with an occupant-restrain control (ORC) module intended for five-passenger vehicles.

The Problem: Side curtain airbags in seven-passenger SUVs with ORC modules for five-passenger vehicles may not deploy if the vehicle is struck on the side behind the second row, which could increase risk to passengers.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the ORC module for free. Chrysler will contact vehicle owners during September, though the automaker says most of the affected vehicles are still on dealer lots.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: Chrysler says 1661 model year 2013 Dodge Durango SUVs are affected, though the NHTSA reports that 1449 vehicles built from April 11, 2012 through July 20, 2012 are being recalled. Chrysler is unaware of any injuries or accidents related to the affected vehicles.
