For decades, the James Bond and 007 franchise has been associated with Aston Martin, but in recent years, different automakers have edged their way into a cameo appearance, including the BMW Z3 in GoldenEye in 1995. But the starring vehicles in the upcoming "Skyfall" rightfully return to their British roots, with Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles playing starring roles in the film. To celebrate 50 years of James Bond, Land Rover will display a Defender Double Cab pickup from the movie at the second press day of the Paris motor show on Friday, September 28.
JLR's contribution of vehicles to the movie production was far from trivial, with the company providing 77 vehicles for the production, many of which were probably sacrificed in the making of the film. The Defender, as well as the Range Rover and Jaguar XJ are prominently featured in the film.
"Skyfall" is the third 007 film starring Daniel Craig as James Bond, the first two being "Casino Royale" in 2006, and "Quantum of Solace" in 2008. "Skyfall" also stars Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, and Judi Dench. The movie will premiere on October 26 in the U.K. and Ireland, with its U.S. premiere scheduled for November 9.
