Santa may traditionally employ a sleigh and reindeer to delivery Christmas toys, but for Christmas 2012 in Germany, he's using a MAN TGX truck festooned with holiday lights, and a specially wrapped trailer wishing Merry Christmas in a variety of languages. The outfitting of the truck and trailer was done by MAN employees at the company's Munich production facility. The truck features more than 600 linear feet of LED lights.
Santa or Weihnactsmann, as he's known in Germany, will be visiting kindergarten schools, children's hospitals, and other institutions delivering truck-shaped chocolates and plush toys for younger children. Just to make sure the MAN Christmas road train can get through those snowy German winters, the truck is equipped with MAN's HydroDrive 4x4 system for maximum traction. And the output from the 12.4-liter inline-six turbodiesel of 540 hp and 1844 lb-ft of torque is far more robust and reliable than Rudolph and crew could ever muster.
The MAN Christmas truck will be touring Germany from early December through Christmas Eve. We wouldn't mind having this rig under our Christmas tree.
