We Get a Glimpse at the New Truck's Eye

Continuing GM's tradition of slow-drip one-detail-at-a-time reveals, the automaker has released a close-up photo of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado's right side headlight that also shows a corner of its grille. While the shot is not much to go by, it does give a little better idea of what the overall truck will look like besides the prototypes we've seen on more than one occasion through spy photos.

In no great surprise for the fullsize truck segment, where bigger, bolder and brighter seem to be the prevailing trend, the projector-beam headlamp assembly is surrounded by a prominent chrome-trim bezel and the lower headlamp/turn signal is bisected by a black strip that also divides the grille, which - Surprise! -- also appears to feature generous amounts of chrome.

It's unknown exactly which trim levels will get the highly-reflective nose treatment, but it's a safe bet it will be on the high-glitz LTZ trim. Although HID headlights employ projector beams, we don't know whether HIDs will be offered on the 2014 Silverado, but considering arch-rival Ford began to offer them as an option on select 2013 F-150 models, the feature will likely be offered as an option, if not on the Silverado, then possibly on the upscale GMC Sierra Denali when it debuts.

Chevrolet subsequently announced the 2014 Silverado 1500 pickup would be publicly revealed on December 13, 2012 in the Detroit area, almost a month before the Detroit Auto Show. Stay tuned to TruckTrend.com for all the details.
