You might not know it by a quick glance at the sheetmetal, but the Ram Heavy Duty has had some work done for the 2014 model year. Under the hood, the truck now offers a 410-hp 6.4-liter gas-powered V-8, and that's not the only change.
The Ram 2500 gets optional gooseneck/fifth wheel capabilities, while the 2500 HD and 3500 HD get a five-link coil suspension. An available air suspension on the 2500 and an air bag suspension on the 3500 are also new for 2014, but the tough styling we've come to love on the trucks remains.
Of course, the available 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel I-6 was a star at Truck of the Year testing, but with 850 lb-ft of torque, how could it not be? Still, the truck didn't perform well on the skidpad (admittedly outside of its comfort zone) and there was a question about the placement of the tow/haul controls on the center stack.
