An eagle-eyed member of the FordInsideNews.com forum spotted the future redesign of the 2014 or 2015 Edge crossover in a recent Ford corporate investor's Power Point presentation. Although tiny, and pixelated when blown up, the changes are dramatic enough to be clearly visible.

How much of the rest of the vehicle is truly all-new is unknown. If still riding on the same platform since the model's introduction for the 2007 model year, this will represent the third restyle of the model, the second being in 2011, when it also received the optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and a more powerful 3.7-liter V-6 for the Sport model.

The new grill adopts the hexagonal style used on the Taurus large sedan, and a prominent horizontal crease along the body side. The other noteworthy change visible is kicked-up rear quarter window glass, compared with the current Edge's flat-bottomed rear glass panel. Since we can't see the rear of the car, we don't know what changes are taking place with the tailgate and taillights, but we would expect an update there as well.

In terms of any changes under the hood, there's a chance the new Edge could get direct-injection on the V-6 engines, boosting power and fuel economy. We expect the 2.0 EcoBoost to carry over, or even become the new standard engine. We know Ford is working on a new family of "Nano" V-6s with smaller displacement than the current Duratec family, but that engine's debut is not expected until 2015, and could come later in the new Edge's model cycle.
