Ford may be the most internationally oriented of the Detroit Three, and has sourced engines and powertrains globally for many years. But for one particularly high-volume powerplant, the widely used 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, production will reportedly move from Valencia, Spain, to Brook Park, Ohio, for installation in models built and sold in North America, reports Bloomberg.

The 2.0 EcoBoost engine has become a bread-and-butter powerplant across much of Ford's passenger car and SUV line, with applications in the Focus, Fusion, Taurus, Edge, Escape and Explorer. The addition of the 2.0 EcoBoost to the Ohio engine plant has not been officially announced, but is expected to add as many as 750 jobs at the plant. The Brook Park plant also builds the popular 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 used in the Ford F-150.

Ford's smaller, recall-prone 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine continues to come from Ford's engine plant in Bridgend, Wales. The 1.6-liter EcoBoost is widely used in the Escape small SUV and Fusion sedan, and will be the engine used in the forthcoming high-performance Fiesta ST model, as well as an optional engine on the 2014 Ford Transit Connect small van.
