If you regularly follow the dynamic duo of Mike Finnegan and David Freiburger of Hot Rod and their YouTube video series "Roadkill," you know they're famous for taking vehicles of questionable provenance and asking them to perform feats that stretch and sometimes surpass their reasonable limits. Such was the case with the magazine's 1968 Ford Ranchero, dubbed the Raunchero for its patina and down-to-earth character.
Finnegan and Freiburger's first attempt came to an end in Idaho, with various technical issues bringing the Arctic quest to a halt. But that didn't stop them from wanting to go all the way. Their goal the second time around was an ice race in Big Lake, Alaska, outside of Anchorage.
After submitting to an exhaustive search of the vehicle and its occupants at the border, the pair and the pickup made it into the Great White North. Issues with steering and the starter plagued the Raunchero north of the border, but the trek continued after some parking lot repairs. Along the way, Finnegan purchased an epic assortment of fireworks before they hit the Alaska Highway.
Stay tuned for the final episode on the way to Big Lake!
