Acura just began production of the 2014 MDX at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, the company's production facility in Lincoln, Alabama. To celebrate, Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and more than 1500 Honda employees were part of the festivities. The HMA facility is now the only place where the MDX is produced; also built there are the Honda Pilot, Ridgeline, and Odyssey, as well as the V-6 engines for each of the models. For the new MDX, the Earth Dreams Technology V-6 engine uses direct injection, plus other features that are said to make the engine highly efficient. That engine goes into production in North America for the first time.

Said Tom Shoupe, HMA president, "Today, we celebrate a new Alabama-made vehicle, fueled by the pride of Honda associates who are committed to exceeding the expectations of our Acura customers." The MDX was designed, engineered, and developed in the United States, and was Acura's top-selling vehicle last year. The 2014 MDX goes on sale in the next few weeks. Pricing has not yet been announced.
