Nothing goes together quite like full-size pickups and football, or at least that's how GMC sees it. Following the brand's prominent product placement in the Madden NFL 25th Anniversary game from EA Sports, the 2014 GMC Sierra Denali is also the starring sponsor of the opening night ESPN Monday Night Football launch with a 90-second video montage of the last 44 years of the show with "ESPN Monday Night Football Launch Engineered by GMC," produced by filmmaker Peter Berg.
GMC's involvement in the NFL doesn't stop with video games and TV sponsorship though. The brand is sponsoring a 12-stop national tour starting September 7 in Washington, D.C. Fans will be able to test-drive 2014 GMC models, test their football skills for a chance to win game tickets and signed team memorabilia, and meet current and former NFL players.
In an acknowledgement of the importance of the Lone Star state as the largest single pickup market in the country, GMC will also do an 11-stop tour in Texas alone, separate from the national campaign, as a way to build its credibility among truck- and football-loving Texans.
In the last five years, the State Fair of Texas has become a major venue for the debut of new truck models, serving as the stage for the 2008 Ford Super Duty, 2013 Ford F-150 King Ranch, 2011 Ram Laramie Longhorn, and it will be the site for the debut of the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon SUVs.
